Deerfield and Palmyra-Eagle are an even 5-5 against one another since May of 2022, but likely not for long. The Demons will face off against the Panthers at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Deerfield will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each matchup than the last.
Deerfield is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They lost 27-18 to Williams Bay on Friday. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Thursday (14), the Demons still had to take the loss.
Zander Hart led a balanced group of hitters, going 3-for-5 with four runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. Landon Brattlie also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.
The home team had won the previous three meetings between Palmyra-Eagle and Parkview, and Palmyra-Eagle kept the tradition alive. The Panthers walked away with an 8-4 win over the Vikings on Friday.
Ryan Brodzik was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out seven over 6.1 innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. That's the most hits he has posted since back in May of 2025.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Alex Harbison, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Dillen Patrick was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.
Deerfield's loss dropped their record down to 3-7-1. As for Palmyra-Eagle, they pushed their record up to 7-3 with the victory, which was their third straight at home.
Deerfield came up short against Palmyra-Eagle in their previous meeting back in May of 2025, falling 4-1. Can the Demons avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
