Pecos hasn't had much luck against Andrews recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Eagles will take on the Mustangs at 5:00 p.m. Pecos is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.9 runs per game this season.
Pecos easily dispatched Frenship Memorial two weeks ago, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. The Eagles fell just short of Alpine by a score of 5-3 last Tuesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Eagles have suffered since February 15, 2025.
Carriz Hernandez was cooking despite her team's loss, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Carysa Campos, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double.
Meanwhile, Andrews had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They beat the Rangers by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 14-3. The result was nothing new for the Mustangs, who have now won 11 games by six runs or more so far this season.
Arianna Sanchez was incredible, going 2-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles. The team also got some help courtesy of Addi Baeza, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Andrews was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .483. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .355 or higher in three consecutive contests.
Andrews' record now sits at 17-7. As for Pecos, they now have a losing record of 7-8-1.
Tuesday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Pecos hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .360. However, it's not like Andrews struggles in that department as they've averaged .380. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Pecos came out on top in a nail-biter against Andrews when the teams last played back in March of 2025, sneaking past 7-6. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Eagles since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
