The Franklin Cougars came tearing into Tuesday's match with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 16.3 points) and they left with even more momentum. They had just enough and edged Pebble Hills out 47-44. Given Franklin's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 169th, while the Spartans are ranked 372nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Franklin's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ethan Martinez, who scored 16 points along with five assists and five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Noah Hall, who scored 11 points along with five rebounds.
Franklin is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten matches, which provided a nice bump to their 20-6 record this season. As for Pebble Hills, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 16-11.
Franklin will look to defend their home court on Friday against the Troopers at 7:30 p.m. Hopefully Eastwood focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up seven on Tuesday. As for Pebble Hills, they will head out on the road to take on the Falcons at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
