Two dominant signal callers in Kam Sealey and Nikolas Weibert are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Sandy Creek Cougars will face off against the Bridgeport Bulldogs at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Sandy Creek is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They claimed a resounding 51-6 win over Wisner-Pilger. The Cougars pushed the score to 51-0 by the end of the third, a deficit the Gators cut but never quite recovered from.
Kaeden Schmidt and Wes Biltoft were among the main playmakers for Sandy Creek as the former gained 75 total yards and three touchdowns and the latter picked up 71 receiving yards and three TDs. Biltoft also put in work on the defensive side of the ball, picking up a sack, making 12 total tackles, and defending one pass.
Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Sandy Creek proved: they limited Wisner-Pilger to a paltry 3.2 yards per carry. While five picked up at least two total tackles, Sealey stood above the rest. He threw for 211 yards and five touchdowns on perfect 14-for-14 passing, and also rushed for 67 yards and one score. Sandy Creek didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 5.7.
Sandy Creek's defense didn't let the opposing QB, get away unscathed either: they got into the backfield for three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Biltoft, Sam Watts, and Josh Spray, who each picked up one sack apiece.
Meanwhile, Bridgeport faced Wausa/Osmond in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Bulldogs put the hurt on Wausa/Osmond with a sharp 38-18 victory. The win was nothing new for the Bulldogs as they're now sitting on eight straight.
Sandy Creek's record is now 9-1. As for Bridgeport, their record now sits at an identical 9-1.
Friday's game might be decided on the ground. Sandy Creek has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 215 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Bridgeport struggles in that department as they've been averaging 214.4 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's contest turns into a tough fight on the ground.
