Basketball Recap: Marion Piles Up the Points Against KIPP

Marion won the last time they faced KIPP and things went their way on Monday too. The Marion Wildcats blew past the KIPP Wolves 74-26. The Wildcats have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine matches by 20 points or more this season.

Marion got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Blake Blue out in front who almost dropped a double-double on 14 points and nine rebounds. The dominant performance gave Blue a new career-high in boards. Another player making a difference was Ethan Simmons, who went 6 of 8 en route to 14 points.

Marion smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've managed all season.

The win made it two in a row for Marion and bumps their season record up to 13-4. As for KIPP, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-4.

A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Marion Wildcats challenge the Breese Central Cougars at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Breese Central will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something Marion surely won't give up without a fight. As for KIPP, they will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Gateway Tech at 6:00 p.m. on February 5th.
