North Sanpete is 2-8 against Manti since April of 2022 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. North Sanpete is taking a road trip to challenge Manti at 3:00 p.m. North Sanpete is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.6 runs per game this season.
North Sanpete was handed a six-run defeat in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Thursday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past American Leadership Academy 9-7. The game was the first time the Hawks have beaten the Eagles on their field since April 22, 2019.
Maddex Bailey was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while going 3-for-3. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March of 2024. Chaetton Osborne was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.
Meanwhile, Manti made easy work of North Sanpete on Tuesday and carried off a 10-4 win. The Templars might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three matches by six runs or more this season.
Lane Cox and Tazj Hill were a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Cox tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Meanwhile, Hill pitched four innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits. Cox has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. At bat, Cox scored two runs while going 2-for-4, while Hill went 1-for-3 with one home run and two runs. Manti is undefeated when Cox posts two or more runs, but 1-5 otherwise.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Kellen Lund, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. He has become a key player for Manti: the team is undefeated when he posts at least one home run, but 0-5 otherwise.
Manti lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.
The victory got North Sanpete back to even at 5-5. As for Manti, their record is now 4-5.
North Sanpete's speedy runners might be the difference in Friday's contest. North Sanpete has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.9 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Manti, though, as they've been averaging only 1.1 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will North Sanpete continue to outrun the ball?
North Sanpete might still be hurting after the 10-4 loss they got from Manti in their previous matchup on Tuesday. Can North Sanpete avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
