Linn-Mar has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will face off against the Iowa City West Trojans at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Last Tuesday, Linn-Mar beat Liberty by the very same score they won with last week: 75-56. Given Linn-Mar's advantage in MaxPreps' Iowa basketball rankings (they are ranked 37th, while Liberty is ranked 127th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Iowa City West waltzed into their matchup two weeks ago with four straight wins but they left with five. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Dowling Catholic 57-55. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory Iowa City West has posted yet this season.
Linn-Mar's win bumped their record up to 9-6. As for Iowa City West, their victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-1.
Linn-Mar beat Iowa City West 76-63 in their previous meeting back in December of 2023. The rematch might be a little tougher for Linn-Mar since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
