Softball Game Preview: Jourdanton Indians/Squaws vs. Cole Cougars

Jourdanton has gone a perfect 5-0 against Cole recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. The Indians/Squaws will head out to square off against the Cougars at 6:15 p.m. Jourdanton is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last seven games.

Jourdanton is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They were the clear victors by an 18-1 margin over Poteet on Friday. Considering the Indians/Squaws have won nine contests by more than seven runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Sydney Floyd and Bobbiejo Gonzales did most of the damage at the plate: Floyd got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, four runs, and three RBI, while Gonzales went 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and one stolen base. Those four runs gave Floyd a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Rebecca Martinez, who scored two runs while going 2-for-2.

Jourdanton was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .533. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Cole, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They skirted past Randolph 8-7. The win was some much needed relief for the Cougars as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Jourdanton's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-12. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.7 runs over those games. As for Cole, their record is now 6-14-1.

Everything went Jourdanton's way against Cole in their previous matchup two weeks ago, as Jourdanton made off with a 15-0 victory. Do the Indians/Squaws have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Cougars turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
