South Warren waltzed into their match on Saturday with seven straight wins... but they left with eight. Everything went their way against Great Crossing as they made off with a 10-0 win. Considering the Spartans have won 14 contests by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.
Layla Ogden made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two doubles and one RBI. That's the most doubles she has posted since back in May of 2024.
In other batting news, Kinleigh Russell was incredible, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. That's the most RBI she has posted since April 4th. The team also got some help courtesy of McLaine Hudson, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and two runs.
South Warren was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .423. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .300 or higher in seven consecutive games.
South Warren's victory bumped their record up to 19-2. As for Great Crossing, their loss dropped their record down to 6-8.
