Football Recap: Anderson Skates Past Elgin with Ease

Anderson never let their opponents score on Friday. They breezed past the Elgin Wildcats to the tune of 42-0. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Trojans' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 267th, while the Wildcats are ranked 629th).

Anderson's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Caleb Crenshaw, who rushed for 193 yards and one touchdown while picking up 12.1 yards per carry. Crenshaw was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 68 yards. Cove Darbyshire was another key signal caller, throwing for 160 yards and a pair of TDs on only six passes.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Anderson was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 327 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in September of 2024.

Anderson didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Yaheim Riley, Grayson Lake, and Alex Longoria picked up one apiece. Longoria is also on a roll when it comes to total tackles, as he's now made five or more in each of the last six games he's played dating back to last season. Another thorn in Elgin's side was Max Middleton, who made 13 total tackles (4.0 for loss).

Anderson has started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it. The victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 2 point this season. As for Elgin, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.

Anderson has already played their next matchup, a 37-14 win against College Station on the 12th. As for Elgin, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 48-0 loss against Montgomery on the 12th.
