The Seeger Patriots had to kick off their season on the road on Friday, but they showed no ill effects. They were the clear victor by a 58-34 margin over South Newton. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 33-12.
Among those leading the charge was Luke Pluimer, who scored 19 points. The team also got some help courtesy of cameron laws, who scored 9 points along with 4 steals.
Despite the defeat, South Newton saw an underclassman step up: Matthew Armstrong scored 13 points along with 5 rebounds.
Seeger's win bumped their record up to 1-0. As for South Newton, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 0-2.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Seeger will take on North Montgomery at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for South Newton, they will be playing in front of their home fans against West Central at 8:00 p.m. on Friday.
