Wellborn (Anniston, Ala.) grabbed a lead in the first quarter and rode that momentum to a 48-8 win over Pleasant Valley (Jacksonville, Ala.).
The Panthers put up six points in the opening quarter. Wellborn scored on a touchdown run by
Kevin Mixon.
After taking the lead on a touchdown in the first quarter, WHS led 21-0 at the half.
The Anniston school grew its lead to 35 points entering the fourth quarter. The Panthers scored two times in the third, including once on a touchdown.
Pleasant Valley's only touchdown came on a 2-yard run in the fourth quarter.
Wellborn came in allowing an average of 21.8 points per game this season.
When the two teams played each other last season, WHS came away with a 70-0 victory.
With the win the Anniston school extended its winning streak to four games.
Pleasant Valley (3-6) goes up against Gaston in a non-conference game matchup next week, while Wellborn (6-3) locks horns with Weaver also in a non-conference game.
