The Benson Bunnies waltzed into their matchup on Wednesday with two straight wins but they left with three. They strolled past Norfolk with points to spare, taking the game 71-57. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
It was another big night for Ahmani Klabunde, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 12 assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Nayja O'Neal, who scored 12 points along with three steals.
When it comes to explaining why Norfolk lost, one person who can't be blamed is Tasha Eisenhauer. Despite the final result, she scored 23 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Eisenhauer has scored all season. Skylar Indra was another key contributor, scoring ten points.
Benson pushed their record up to 7-3 with that win, which was their fourth straight at home. As for Norfolk, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-9.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Benson will play host again and welcome Gretna East, where tip off is scheduled for TBD on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Nebraska (Gretna East is ranked 89th, while Benson is ranked 69th). As for Norfolk, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Kearney at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Kearney knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past four matchups -- so hopefully Norfolk likes a good challenge.
