Ida B. Wells is 2-8 against Roosevelt since April of 2023 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Guardians will challenge the Roughriders at 5:00 p.m. Ida B. Wells has given up an average of 9.4 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Ida B. Wells couldn't beat Franklin on Friday even though they stacked four runs on them in the first inning. The Guardians lost 14-7 to the Quakers. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since April 2, 2024, but that streak is no more.
Sophia Paladino stepped up to lead a balanced group of hitters: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Hayden Miramontes, who went 1-for-4 with one triple and two RBI.
Meanwhile, Roosevelt never let their opponents score on Friday. They blew past Lincoln 8-0. Considering the Roughriders have won eight matchups by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
The result came thanks to Ruby Frish's shutout, as she gave up just five hits and racked up ten Ks.
At the plate, Roosevelt let Annabella Murphy and Zulaykha Armstrachan run wild. Murphy went 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double, while Armstrachan went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double. Armstrachan is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Livi Jones, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one run.
Roosevelt was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .414. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .300 or higher in four consecutive games.
Roosevelt has been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for Ida B. Wells, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-13.
Ida B. Wells might still be hurting after the 15-0 loss they got from Roosevelt when the teams last played two weeks ago. Can the Guardians avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
