If Clovis East wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Clovis, they should've done a better job of containing Reina Dvorak. The Cougars blew past the Timberwolves 3-0 on Thursday for which the team can thank Dvorak, who had six digs, five aces, and one block. She has been hot for a while, having also posted 18 or more assists the last 20 times she's played.
While Clovis won a shutout, things came down to the wire in the third set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-10, 25-15, 26-24.
Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, Clovis West's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They came up short against Buchanan, falling 3-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Golden Eagles have suffered since November 7, 2024.
The defeat didn't mean the game wasn't competitive: Buchanan scored at least 18 points in every set. The match finished with set scores of 25-20, 25-18, 25-19.
Clovis West's loss dropped their record down to 25-11. As for Clovis, their victory bumped their record up to 30-4.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Tuesday's contest: Clovis hasn't let much over the net this season, having averaged 5.3 blocks per game. It's a different story for Clovis West, though, as they've been averaging only 1 blocks. Given Clovis' sizable advantage in that area, the Golden Eagles will need to find a way to close that gap.
