Softball Recap: Willowbrook Has No Trouble Against Proviso East

Willowbrook won the last time they faced Proviso East and things went their way on Monday too. The Warriors were the clear victors by a 17-1 margin over the Pirates. The Warriors not only won on Monday, but they posted their biggest win since May 2nd (when they won 19-0).

Adrianna Weaser looked comfortable as she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over four innings pitched. Those seven strikeouts gave her a new career-high.

At the plate, Willowbrook got a massive performance out of Claudia Lagunas, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. The dominant performance also gave Lagunas a new career-high in RBI (two). Another player making a difference was Sonia Ruchala, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Willowbrook always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .700. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Proviso East only posted an OBP of .312.

Willowbrook's victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 15-12. As for Proviso East, they dropped their record down to 1-18 with the loss, which was their 15th straight at home dating back to last season.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Willowbrook is set to take on their familiar foe Downers Grove South at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Proviso East will square off against rival Berwyn/Cicero Morton at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
