Swallows Charter Academy is 1-9 against the Meloneers since February of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Swallows Charter Academy Spartans will head out on the road to take on the Rocky Ford Meloneers at 4:00 p.m. Rocky Ford took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Swallows Charter Academy, who comes in off a win.
Swallows Charter Academy scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Thursday. They enjoyed a cozy 48-34 victory over Dolores Huerta Prep. Swallows Charter Academy pushed the score to 40-20 by the end of the third, a deficit the Scorpions cut but never quite recovered from.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Swallows Charter Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Faith DeRudder, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten rebounds. It was the first time this season that DeRudder scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jade Anaya, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds.
Meanwhile, Rocky Ford's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They were dealt a 90-8 loss at the hands of Peyton. Rocky Ford has not had much luck with the Panthers recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
The win makes it two in a row for Swallows Charter Academy and bumps their season record up to 3-12. As for Rocky Ford, they now have a losing record at 7-8.
Swallows Charter Academy ended up a good deal behind the Meloneers in their previous meeting back in February of 2023, losing 36-20. Can Swallows Charter Academy avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
