The Master's Academy Lions's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fourth straight loss. They took a 43-26 bruising from Nebo Crossing Academy. The Master's Academy was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Nebo Crossing Academy apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in December of 2021.
Several Lions players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Zachary Gatlin, who scored four points along with five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Hunter Brown, who scored nine points.
The Master's Academy struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Nebo Crossing Academy racked up 12 assists.
Nebo Crossing Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Morgan Baker led the charge by scoring 13 points. That makes it three consecutive games in which Baker has scored at least 25% of Nebo Crossing Academy's points. Isaac Grubbs was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with six rebounds and four steals.
The Master's Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 4-7. As for Nebo Crossing Academy, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-3.
The Master's Academy will head out on the road to face off against Veritas Christian Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Nebo Crossing Academy, they will be playing in front of their home fans against University Christian at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. University Christian is hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses.
