Softball Game Preview: String Theory vs. Philadelphia Academy Charter Chargers

String Theory will head out to square off against the Philadelphia Academy Charter Chargers at 3:15 p.m. on Monday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

String Theory is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They blew past Thomas A. Edison 19-12 on Thursday. String Theory might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three matchups by seven runs or more this season.

Danica Divincenzo made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over three innings while giving up four earned runs but no hits. Divincenzo was even better at the plate, scoring four runs and stealing Six bases. while going 3-for-5. Divincenzo is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: she's snagged at least two every time she's taken the field this season.

In other batting news, Alexa Pietrafesa was incredible, scoring four runs and stealing Four bases. while going 2-for-4. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2024. Genesis Mejia-Rodriquez also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.

String Theory was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .417. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, Philadelphia Academy Charter had to kick off their season on the road on Wednesday, but they showed no ill effects. Everything went their way against Science Leadership Academy as Philadelphia Academy Charter made off with a 17-2 victory.

Jayonni Farabelli was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with one home run, six RBI, and two runs. Bridget Donaghy was another key player, going 3-for-4 with five RBI, three runs, and two doubles.

String Theory's record is now 3-1. As for Philadelphia Academy Charter, their win ended a four-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 1-0.

String Theory might still be hurting after the 30-11 defeat they got from Philadelphia Academy Charter in their previous meeting back in April of 2019. Can String Theory avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
