AAA Region I recap Nov. 7, 2012
Belton-Honea Path's Korey Thompson recorded the longest rushing play in AAA Region I this season in his game against Woodruff last week. Thompson ran for 72 yards on the play and finished with 272 on the day as his team topped the Wolverines.
Daniel extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Broome, 45-21. The victory was the sixth in a row for the team.
Belton-Honea Path's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Matt Williams threw for 180 and one touchdown and Jermale Turner had 115 yards receiving. Kijafa Martin helped Belton-Honea Path's passing attack out by catching one ball for 60 yards.
Thanks to the talents of Williams and Thompson Russell Blackston's team has been able to do all sorts of things on offense. Williams leads the league in passing with 2098 yards, while Thompson has rushed for 1520 yards this season. Seneca's Dorian Raines leads the league in receiving yards with 1413 on 72 catches.
