Softball Recap: Homestead Wins Going Away Against Northwestern

The matchup between Homestead and Northwestern on Tuesday hardly resembled the 0-0 effort from their previous meeting. The Broncos blew past the Bulls 23-2. The high-scoring effort was just what the Broncos needed considering they were shut out in their previous match.

Homestead got a massive performance out of Deanna Jones, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. Jones has been hot recently, having also posted at least one stolen base the last four times she's played. Another player making a difference was Breah Pruitt, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and three doubles.

Homestead was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .750. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .318 or higher in seven consecutive games.

Homestead is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-2-1 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.3 runs over those games. As for Northwestern, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-5.

Looking ahead, Homestead will challenge Miami at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Northwestern does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
