Baseball Recap: Clover Hill Has No Trouble Against L.C. Bird

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Manchester, Clover Hill was happy to have turned things around on Wednesday. They put the hurt on the L.C. Bird Skyhawks with a sharp 15-3 victory. The result was nothing new for the Cavaliers, who have now won three matchups by ten runs or more so far this season.

Clover Hill got a massive performance out of Carter Burcume, who scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Burcume is becoming a predictor of the Cavaliers' success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is undefeated (and 1-2 when he doesn't). Carter Hine was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing three bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Clover Hill was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .391. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Clover Hill has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-2 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.5 runs over those games. As for L.C. Bird, they dropped their record down to 1-7 with the loss, which was their 12th straight on the road dating back to last season.
