5A Region III District 21 recap October 22, 2013
Deer Park scaled the state rankings by moving to 262 from 334 this week, the biggest jump in 5A Region III District 21. The Deer were able to move up by beating La Porte 14-7.
North Shore extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Sterling, 51-0. The victory was the seventh in a row for the team.
Deer Park's offense was unstoppable this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Conner Means threw for 104 yards and Coulten Allen had 49 yards receiving. On the ground Trey Farmer contributed 77 yards. Cameron Thompson helped Deer Park's passing attack out by catching 4 balls for 20 yards.
Farmer was the most successful running back in the league this week. He ran for 77 yards on 21 carries as Chris Massey's team topped the Bulldogs. Isaac Bonuz also contributed to the rushing game with 28 yards on the ground.
On the heels of Means and Farmer, the Deer have had great success on offense. Means leads the league in passing with 922 yards, while Farmer has rushed for 793 yards this season. La Porte's David Terrebonne leads the league in receiving yards with 416 on 32 catches.
The top two teams in 5A Region III District 21 will face off this week when first place North Shore takes on second place West Brook.
The Rangers lost to North Shore 51-0 last week, the largest margin of any game.
