The Gloucester Dukes are taking a road trip to challenge the Tabb Tigers at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.
Gloucester is headed into the matchup having just posted their closest victory since June 2, 2025 on Wednesday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Lafayette 3-2.
Camden Phelps was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up a single earned run in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two RBI.
Phelps wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Trevor Deyoung, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one run. Hayden Simmons also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
Meanwhile, Tabb waltzed into their game on Tuesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They beat the Eagles by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 4-3.
Like Gloucester, Tabb also got a great game from a two-way player: Brady Busonick. Throwing, Busonick tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Caden Kuehni pitched five innings while giving up three earned runs off three hits. At bat, Busonick got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, while Kuehni went 2-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. Busonick has become a key player for Tabb: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 1-2 otherwise.
Tabb hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Jamestown struck out seven times.
Gloucester's record is now 2-5. As for Tabb, their record now sits at 5-2.
Gloucester's speedy runners might be the difference in Friday's contest. The Dukes have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.9 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Tabb, though, as they've been averaging only 1.3 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Gloucester continue to outrun the ball?
