Baseball Recap: Shenendehowa Has No Trouble Against Saratoga Springs

Shenendehowa lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Saratoga Springs, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Wednesday's game. The Plainsmen blew past the Blue Streaks 10-1 on Wednesday. Considering the Plainsmen have won five matchups by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Shenendehowa got a great performance from Zachary Milano as he struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. Milano has become a key player for the Plainsmen: the team is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 3-4 otherwise.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Brad Curtis, who went 3-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one double. Another player making a difference was Blake Morse, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double.

Shenendehowa always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .524. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Shenendehowa has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-4 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.2 runs on average over those games. As for Saratoga Springs, they dropped their record down to 6-6 with the loss, which was their fourth straight at home.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Shenendehowa will welcome Guilderland at 4:15 p.m. on Friday. As for Saratoga Springs, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Shaker at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Bison's pitching crew has only allowed 2.4 runs per game this season, so the Blue Streaks' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
