The St. Bernard Saints will venture away from home to face off against the Ledyard Colonels at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. St. Bernard is coming into the matchup on a five-game losing streak.
Friday just wasn't the day for St. Bernard's offense. They came up short against Waterford on Friday, falling 18-0.
Meanwhile, Ledyard was able to grind out a solid win over Killingly on Monday, taking the game 6-3.
Alexia Lemmon spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three runs (all of which were unearned) on four hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season.
On the hitting side, Alana Ninteau and Mia Starling did most of the damage at the plate: Ninteau went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI, while Starling went 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI. That's the most hits Starling has posted since back in June of 2025. Faith Dalton was another key player, getting on base in two of her four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.
Ledyard was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Killingly only posted a batting average of .148.
Ledyard is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.0 runs over those games. As for St. Bernard, their loss dropped their record down to 2-8.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. St. Bernard has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.2 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Ledyard struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 8.2 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
St. Bernard might still be hurting after the 18-1 defeat they got from Ledyard in their previous matchup back in April of 2025. Can the Saints avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
