Bishop Machebeuf has enjoyed a three-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They just played last night, but they'll still head out to face the Heritage Christian Eagles at 6:30 p.m. on January 23rd. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Bishop Machebeuf suffered their biggest loss yet this season on Monday. They were dealt a 59-28 defeat at the hands of Dayspring Christian Academy. While losing is never fun, Bishop Machebeuf can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 204th, while Dayspring Christian Academy is ranked 99th).
Despite the defeat, Bishop Machebeuf saw an underclassman step up: Eve Brustkern scored 14 points along with five rebounds and two steals. Brustkern is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Karmen Bert, who scored seven points along with two steals.
Meanwhile, Heritage Christian came up short against Wiggins on Saturday and fell 51-39.
Bishop Machebeuf's record is now 7-4. Heritage Christian's record now sits at 6-4.
Bishop Machebeuf was taken down by Heritage Christian 49-19 when the teams last played back in January of 2023. Thankfully for Bishop Machebeuf, Avery Hughes (who scored 11 points along with nine steals and five assists) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
