Atlantic Coast has gone 8-2 against Paxon School For Advanced Studies recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Atlantic Coast Stingrays will take on the Paxon School For Advanced Studies Golden Eagles at 6:30 p.m. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Atlantic Coast comes in on three and Paxon School For Advanced Studies on five.
While Atlantic Coast's victory against Englewood wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. Atlantic Coast came out on top in a nail-biter against Englewood on Tuesday, sneaking past 2-1.
Atlantic Coast saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Delvin Haskell, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base.
While Paxon School For Advanced Studies didn't have the best season last year (they finished 7-16), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. Everything went their way against Parker on Tuesday as Paxon School For Advanced Studies made off with a 10-0 win. Considering the Golden Eagles have won five games by more than nine runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Paxon School For Advanced Studies also got a great performance from Brayden Wilkerson as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over five innings pitched. Furthermore, Wilkerson didn't allow a single earned run, the first time he has blanked an opponent since back in April of 2024.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Robert Bryson, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and two doubles. Another player making a difference was Javon Johnson, who scored three runs and stole Two bases. while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances.
Paxon School For Advanced Studies pushed their record up to 7-2 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 10.8 runs. As for Atlantic Coast, their record is now 6-4.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Thursday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Atlantic Coast has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.8 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Paxon School For Advanced Studies struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.2 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Atlantic Coast was able to grind out a solid win over Paxon School For Advanced Studies in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, winning 9-5. The rematch might be a little tougher for Atlantic Coast since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
