It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the Portales Rams had no problem doing just that on Saturday. They came out on top against Bloomfield by a score of 28-21. The win made it back-to-back wins for Portales.
Paxton Culpepper threw for 182 yards and a touchdown. Andru Ontiveros was his top target, picking up 53 receiving yards and a touchdown. On the ground, Zach Radloff rushed for 49 yards.
Bloomfield's lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Blake Spencer, who rushed for 83 yards on only nine carries. Spencer was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 55 yards.
Portales pushed their record up to 11-1 with that victory, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 41.5 points per game. As for Bloomfield, their loss ended a seven-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 11-1.
Portales has the luxury of staying home another week and will welcome Lovington at 1:00 p.m. on November 25th. Lovington will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak. Bloomfield does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
