Tatum is 8-0 against the Raiders since December of 2016, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Tatum Eagles will head out on the road to challenge the West Rusk Raiders at 6:15 p.m. Tatum is looking to tack on another W to their 13-game streak on the road dating back to last season.
Tatum put the finishing touches on their 20th blowout victory of the season on Tuesday. They claimed a resounding 84-31 win over Waskom at home. Given Tatum's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 213th, while the Wildcats are ranked 837th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, West Rusk lost to the Bulldogs at home by a decisive 65-48 margin on Tuesday. West Rusk has not had much luck with the Bulldogs recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Kamyah Lacy, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 12 rebounds. She is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last nine games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Keke Murphy, who scored 11 points along with eight assists and five rebounds.
Even though they lost, West Rusk smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 23 offensive rebounds. This was only their 14th loss (out of 21 games) when they hit their own glass that hard.
Tatum's win bumped their record up to 25-1. As for West Rusk, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 9-19.
Everything came up roses for Tatum against the Raiders in their previous meeting back in January as the team secured a 90-35 win. With Tatum ahead 59-16 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.
