Sharpsville is a perfect 8-0 against Farrell since April of 2017 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Blue Devils will take on the Steelers at 4:00 p.m. Sharpsville is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.6 runs per game this season.
Sharpsville came out on top against Wilmington on Monday thanks in part to the team's impressive five-run fourth inning. The Blue Devils were the clear victors by a 9-1 margin over the Greyhounds. The result was nothing new for the Blue Devils, who have now won eight games by eight runs or more so far this season.
Jordan Brest spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on nine hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Sharpsville got a massive performance out of Izzie Candiotti, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most runs Candiotti has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Lily Palko, who went 2-for-3 with one home run and two runs.
They weren't the only ones working in the home run department: Sharpsville lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post two or more home runs.
Meanwhile, Farrell was not able to break out of their rough patch back in April as the team picked up their ninth straight defeat dating back to last season. They lost 16-4 to Reynolds.
Madalynn Harrison was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and one run.
Farrell's loss dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Sharpsville, their win bumped their record up to 9-6.
Farrell's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Sharpsville has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .456. It's a different story for Farrell, though, as they've only averaged .275. Will they be able to contain Sharpsville's hitters?
Everything went Sharpsville's way against Farrell in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, as Sharpsville made off with a 12-2 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Blue Devils since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
