The Katella Knights will square off against the Westminster Lions at 3:30 p.m. on Friday.
On Wednesday, Katella didn't have quite enough to beat Buena Park and fell 8-7.
Meanwhile, Westminster got the win against Ocean View on Wednesday by a conclusive 13-7. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win the Lions have posted against the Seahawks since April 8, 2022.
Chelsea Brown spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and three unearned) runs on nine hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Westminster got a massive performance out of Lily De La Riva, who went 4-for-5 with seven RBI, one triple, and one run. Those seven RBI gave De La Riva a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Adelynn Ferreira, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and one stolen base.
Westminster always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .575. They are 4-2 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
The victory made it two in a row for Westminster and bumps their season record up to 7-14. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.5 runs over those games. As for Katella, their loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 6-1 and their overall record down to 12-10.
Katella got the 'W' in their previous matchup on April 14th against Westminster by a conclusive 13-2 score. Do the Knights have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Lions turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
