After a string of three wins, the Gadsden County Jaguars's good fortune finally ran out on Wednesday. They had to suffer through a rough 65-22 loss at the hands of Lincoln. While losing is never fun, Gadsden County can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 432nd, while Lincoln is ranked 138th).
Lincoln's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jamiya Brown, who scored 22 points along with nine rebounds and five steals. Brown is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Jamesia Smith was another key contributor, scoring 17 points along with seven rebounds and four steals.
Gadsden County's loss dropped their record down to 3-5. As for Lincoln, their win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-2.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Gadsden County will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on North Florida Christian at 6:00 p.m. on January 8, 2024. North Florida Christian comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 25 points in their last seven games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse. As for Lincoln, they will head out on the road to face off against Leon at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Leon has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games.
