If the MaxPreps national rankings hold true, the near future looks bright for St. John Bosco. On Friday they will take on Santa Margarita at 7:00 PM. Santa Margarita will need to watch out since St. John Bosco have now posted big point totals in their last eight contests.
St. John Bosco and Mater Dei -- ranked 1st and 3rd in the MaxPreps national rankings, respectively -- squared off last Saturday in a high-profile matchup. St. John Bosco made easy work of Mater Dei and carried off a 41-18 win. Junior DJ Uiagalelei, who passed for 278 yards and 5 touchdowns, was a major factor in St. John Bosco's success. If you haven't heard Uiagalelei's name lately, then you haven't been paying much attention: he has loomed large in their past eight games.
Meanwhile, things haven't been easy for Santa Margarita, and their match last Thursday only extended their streak of losses to four. They took a 23-30 hit to the loss column at the hands of Servite.
St. John Bosco's victory lifted them to 8-0 while Santa Margarita's defeat dropped them down to 3-5. If St. John Bosco want to win, St. John Bosco will need to focus on stopping Santa Margarita's sophomore Peter Costelli, who picked up 57 yards on the ground and accumulated 138 passing yards, and senior Jake Ebach, who rushed for 32 yards and 1 touchdown. We'll see whether or not they are up to the challenge.
