Sullivan and Union are an even 5-5 against one another since September of 2018, but not for long. The Eagles will take on the Wildcats at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Sullivan is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last five games.
On Tuesday, Sullivan made easy work of Owensville and carried off a 3-0 win.
Sullivan never let Owensville on the board, but things got pretty close in the third set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-12, 25-20, 26-24.
Sullivan can attribute much of their success to Andi Giebler, who had nine digs and two assists, and Ava Todd, who had nine assists and four digs.
Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Union faced off against Hermann on Tuesday. The Wildcats took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Bearcats. The Wildcats have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back matches.
While Union ultimately came up short, they really made Hermann work, particularly in the fourth set. The final score came out to 25-16, 23-25, 25-15, 27-25.
Union's defeat dropped their record down to 7-20-1. As for Sullivan, their victory bumped their record up to 16-9-4.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Thursday's match: Sullivan has really dialed in their serving this season, having averaged 8.3 aces per game. However, it's not like Union struggles in that department as they've been averaging 4.7 aces. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Sullivan might still be hurting after the 3-0 loss they got from Union in their previous meeting back in October of 2024. Can the Eagles avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
