The Midway Raiders will take on the Southern Wayne Saints in a tournament on Monday. Midway will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.
Midway saw some tournament action on Saturday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against C.B. Aycock, sneaking past 6-5. That's two games straight that the Raiders have won by just one run.

Wesley Tew made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. What's more, he posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run and one RBI.
In other pitching news, Cameron Register looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.
Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Luke Peterson, who got on base in two of his four plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. That stolen base marked the first that he has snagged this season.
Meanwhile, Southern Wayne didn't have quite enough to beat East Duplin on Saturday and fell 6-5.
Like Midway, Southern Wayne also got a great game from a two-way player: Hayden Waller. He tossed 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Waller has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up a single earned run in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI.
Waller wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Brayden McKee, who went 1-for-3 with one RBI.
Southern Wayne's defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 6-13. As for Midway, their victory bumped their record up to 14-6.
Midway took their win against Southern Wayne in their previous meeting back in March by a conclusive 12-2 score. Do the Raiders have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Saints turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
