The First Flight Nighthawks entered their tilt with the Currituck County Knights with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. First Flight walked away with a 70-60 win over Currituck County on Friday. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Mason Dobie was his usual excellent self, scoring 34 points. He continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jason Mayou, who scored ten points.
Jamie Dance and Luke Morgan certainly did their best on Friday to try and avoid the loss. Dance dropped a double-double on 21 points and ten rebounds, while Morgan scored 22 points along with six rebounds and three steals. Dance has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. Duane Pickering was another key contributor, scoring six points.
First Flight's win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-9. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.5 points per game. As for Currituck County, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 10-7.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. First Flight will face off against Manteo at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Manteo has now lost seven straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 29. As for Currituck County, they will head out on the road to square off against Camden County at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Camden County's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last three matchups.
