On Monday, Titusville got the win against Franklin by a conclusive 8-1. The win continues a trend for the Rockets in their matchups with the Knights: they've now won nine in a row.
Kameron Mong was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 12 over six innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one hit in four consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run.
In other batting news, Ian McDonald was excellent, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. Coleman Knapp was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one double and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Hickory was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 5-4 heartbreaker at the hands of Grove City.
Hickory also got a good showing from Ayden Messer, who pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits.
At the plate, Hickory saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Luke Lewis, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one double and one RBI. Another was Dante Evans, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one run.
Hickory's defeat dropped their record down to 4-8. As for Titusville, they pushed their record up to 12-2 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season.
Hickory's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Titusville hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .361. It's a different story for Hickory, though, as they've only averaged .236. Will they be able to contain Titusville's hitters?
Titusville came out on top in a nail-biter against Hickory when the teams last played on April 7th, sneaking past 3-2. Do the Rockets have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Hornets turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
