Community Christian is 0-3 against Good Samaritan HomeSchool since December of 2023 but things could change on Monday. The Community Christian Lions will welcome the Good Samaritan HomeSchool Hornets at 7:00 p.m.
Community Christian is headed into Monday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their seventh straight game on Friday. They were beaten by School of the Woods 82-32. While losing is never fun, the Lions can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1372nd, while the Wildcats are ranked 537th).
Will Kratzer put forth a good effort for the losing side as he posted 17 points.
Meanwhile, Good Samaritan HomeSchool put another one in the bag on Thursday to keep their perfect season alive. They came out on top against Harmony Science Academy by a score of 61-52. The victory almost wasn't to be: the Hornets were down 31-16 in the second quarter.
Good Samaritan HomeSchool's win came from a few key players Community Christian will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Dominic Fogo, who went 9 of 16 on his way to 21 points in addition to seven rebounds and four steals. He is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last five games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of George Fogo, who went 6 for 13 on his way to 15 points and five steals.
Good Samaritan HomeSchool smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in 11 consecutive contests.
Good Samaritan HomeSchool's win was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 11-0. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 27 points. As for Community Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 3-11.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Community Christian has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 26 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Good Samaritan HomeSchool struggles in that department as they've been averaging 34.1 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Community Christian was taken down by Good Samaritan HomeSchool 55-23 when the teams last played back in November. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Good Samaritan HomeSchool's Carson Spears, who went 10 of 15 on his way to 20 points and seven boards. Now that Community Christian knows the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? There's only one way to find out.
