Greeneview is 8-2 against Greenon since April of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Rams will be playing in front of their home fans against the Knights at 5:00 p.m. Greeneview is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.6 runs per game this season.
Friday just wasn't the day for Greeneview's offense. They took a 5-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of West Jefferson on Friday. The Rams have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Greeneview saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Nick Hassid, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases.
Meanwhile, while Greenon put up plenty of runs on Saturday, the same can't be said for Houston. The Knights were the clear victors by an 11-0 margin over the Wildcats. The Knights might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five games by ten runs or more this season.
Carson Fields made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 11 over six innings pitched. Those 11 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with three RBI and one run.
In other batting news, Logan Blevins was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. He has become a key player for Greenon: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 3-8 otherwise. Grayson Shingler was another key player, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Greenon kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Greenon has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-8 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.5 runs over those games. As for Greeneview, their loss dropped their record down to 9-6.
Monday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Greeneview has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .474. However, it's not like Greenon struggles in that department as they've averaged .443. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
