Meanwhile, North Warren Central fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Hadley Luzerne on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Eagles by a score of 13-12.
Owen Scheafer made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. That double marked the first that he has hit this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Daniel Mattison, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.
Warrensburg's record now sits at 9-3. As for North Warren Central, their loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 7-3-1.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Monday as neither team is afraid to steal. Warrensburg has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 5.7 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like North Warren Central struggles in that department as they've been averaging 4.8 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Warrensburg took their victory against North Warren Central when the teams last played back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 10-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Burgers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
