It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but MacArthur ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They slipped by the Normal University Pioneers 28-27. That's two games straight that the Generals have won by just one point.
Normal University's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Owen Kirby, who threw for 158 yards and three touchdowns. The Pioneers also got a significant boost from Rhett Lynch, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 88 yards.
The victory (which was MacArthur's third in a row) raised their record to 3-0. Those wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 30.3 points this season. As for Normal University, their defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 1-2.
