Baseball Recap: Cheney Tech Picks Up Sixth Consecutive Victory

Cheney Tech had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9 runs) and they went ahead and made it six on Wednesday. They put the hurt on the Ellis RVT Eagles with a sharp 15-5 win. Considering the Chargers have won seven games by more than seven runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Thomas Fortunato was incredible, going 2-for-4 with four runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Those four runs gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Morgan Salkeld, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one double.

Cheney Tech always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .619. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Cheney Tech pushed their record up to 11-5 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.2 runs on average over those games. As for Ellis RVT, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-6.

Coming up, Cheney Tech will venture away from home to face off against East Hartford at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Ellis RVT, they will welcome Windham at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday. The Eagles are facing the Whippets at the right time seeing as the Whippets are stuck on a 14-game losing streak.
