Calvary Day is 4-0 against the Blue Tide since January of 2023, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The pair will face off at 6:00 p.m. on February 2nd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Calvary Day will be looking to keep their 22-game home win streak (dating back to last season) alive.
Last Saturday, Calvary Day didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against the Bulldogs, but they still walked away with a 50-45 victory. Given Calvary Day's advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 145th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 349th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Calvary Day can attribute much of their success to Bre Jones, who scored 17 points along with eight rebounds and five assists, and Destini Gooddine, who scored 22 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. Gooddine has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last 11 times she's played. Another player making a difference was Amariah Jones, who scored five points along with ten rebounds.
Long County can finally bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on Saturday. They took down Claxton 47-29. The victory was just what Long County needed coming off of a 47-27 loss in their prior game.
Calvary Day is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 15-4 record this season. As for Long County, their victory ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 8-11.
Calvary Day strolled past the Blue Tide when the teams last played back in January by a score of 56-38. Will Calvary Day repeat their success, or do the Blue Tide have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
