Even though the Corona del Sol Aztecs have not done well against the Mountain Pointe Pride recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. Corona del Sol walked away with a 67-57 victory over Mountain Pointe. Given Corona del Sol's advantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 49th, while Mountain Pointe is ranked 169th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Bo Dolinsek was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 27 points and ten rebounds. He has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last nine times he's played. Mihail Kostadinovski was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with nine rebounds.
The win was the fourth in a row for Corona del Sol, bringing their record for this year to 13-9. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.3 points per game. As for Mountain Pointe, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-17.
Corona del Sol and Highland will face off at 7:00 p.m. on January 30th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. As for Mountain Pointe, they will head out on the road to take on Casteel at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The timing is sure in Casteel's favor as the team sits on four straight wins at home while Mountain Pointe has been banged up by seven consecutive losses on the road dating back to last season.
