Volleyball Recap: The Academy's Losing Streak Snapped at Five Games

The Academy had to endure a five-match losing streak, but that streak is no more. They blew past the Riverdale Ridge Ravens 3-0 on Saturday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Wildcats also won the last time the pair played back in August of 2019.

The match finished with set scores of 25-11, 25-13, 25-21.

Ava Gallegos paced The Academy's offense, picking up nine kills. Gallegos got some help from Eva Rodriquez and her 15 assists. Jaelyn Farmer controlled things from the service line, finishing with six aces.

Riverdale Ridge's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Hailey Davis, who had 11 assists and seven digs, and Cadyn Pletkovic, who had seven digs.

The Academy's win bumped their record up to 5-8. As for Riverdale Ridge, their loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 1-10.

The Academy has already played their next contest, a 3-2 defeat against Prairie View on the 4th. As for Riverdale Ridge, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 3-1 victory against Fort Lupton on the 4th.
