Riverton's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Faythe Stauffer, who posted 13 points and eight rebounds. That's the most boards Stauffer has posted since back in January of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Ella Lange, who put up eight points and six rebounds.
Riverton smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive boards in three consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Lone Peak faced Westlake in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. Lone Peak fell to Westlake 45-39. While the Knights didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Thunder 12-8 in the first quarter.
Riverton will have to contain Kennedy Woolston as she made an impact in Lone Peak's last game. She had ten points in addition to seven boards and six assists. Woolston has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last four times she's played. Another player making a difference was Tatiana Harness, who earned ten points.
Riverton's win bumped their record up to 13-9. As for Lone Peak, their loss dropped their record down to 16-7.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Riverton has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 29.5 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Lone Peak struggles in that department as they've been averaging 25.7 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Riverton lost to Lone Peak on the road by a decisive 61-46 margin when the teams last played back in December of 2019. Thankfully for Riverton, Kailey Woolston (who went 7-for-13 on her way to 21 points) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
