It was a good run, but the Hillcrest Christian Cougars unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Tuesday. They fell 46-34 to St. Joseph Catholic. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Hillcrest Christian in their matchups with St. Joseph Catholic: they've now lost three in a row.
When it comes to explaining why Hillcrest Christian lost, one person who can't be blamed is Jaivyn Carter. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 12 points and 14 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Severe McNeary, who scored 5 points.
Hillcrest Christian's loss was their fifth straight at home, which bumped their record down to 9-3. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.0 points per game. As for St. Joseph Catholic, the win was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-1.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hillcrest Christian will challenge Silliman Institute at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. St. Joseph Catholic will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Clinton Christian Academy at 7:30 p.m. on December 8th. Clinton Christian Academy will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Mississippi Rankings (they are ranked 178th, while St. Joseph Catholic is ranked 24th).
