The Xavier Prep Saints won a close one the last time they played, but unfortunately they suffered a serious change of fortune on Thursday. They were dealt a 75-43 defeat at the hands of Palm Desert. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Xavier Prep in their matchups with Palm Desert: they've now lost nine in a row.
Johnny Ferrel and Paul Dreisbach certainly did their best on Thursday to try and avoid the loss. Ferrel scored 15 points, while Dreisbach dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Tre Rochin, who scored four points.
Palm Desert was led to victory by Kamrynn Nathan and Coby Christensen. Nathan scored 23 points along with six assists and three steals, while Christensen almost dropped a triple-double on 18 points, nine rebounds, and 12 assists. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Nathan has scored all season. Wil Wilson was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with three steals.
Xavier Prep has been struggling recently, as they've lost five of their last six matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-18 record this season. As for Palm Desert, their win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 20-4.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Xavier Prep will take on Rancho Mirage at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Rancho Mirage has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 544 points over their last eight contests. As for Palm Desert, they will be playing in front of their home fans against La Quinta at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. La Quinta has now lost eight straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 27.
