Archbishop Shaw took a eight-run loss the last time they faced off against L.W. Higgins, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Archbishop Shaw Eagles came out on top in a nail-biter against the L.W. Higgins Hurricanes on Thursday, sneaking past 3-1. For the Eagles, this counts as revenge for the 10-2 win the Hurricanes walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2024.

Archbishop Shaw saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Chase Baiamonte, who scored two runs and stole Two bases. while going 2-for-4. That's the most runs Baiamonte has posted since back in April of 2024. Steven Houin also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Archbishop Shaw pushed their record up to 7-9 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for L.W. Higgins, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 9-4.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Archbishop Shaw will challenge Kenner Discovery Health Sciences Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The last four games Archbishop Shaw has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one. As for L.W. Higgins, they are taking a road trip to challenge Benjamin Franklin at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
